WOW... This? This is perfection. I don't even know where to begin because everything is so amazing. You really have a way with vividly setting a scene with so few words, and the characters are spot on. Adding to my rec. list :)

I can try - years of playacting it makes me a little better at X-Men fight scenes than other ones.

But... Can we trade off? I'm AU-ing the FC ending, and instead of saying "they're just following orders" (terrible idea), Charles takes a moment to think and comes out with “But if you kill them now, before they've had a chance to make an informed choice, if you start with them and continue with the idea that all humans are the enemy and they have to be fought and defeated, then how is that different than what you believe they would do to us? It's the exact same philosophy, Erik, it's a mindset you despise and yet you're slipping into a form of it yourself. Can't you see that?”

I can't decide what Erik's immediate reaction to that would be. Thoughts?

I think Erik would stop dead and start thinking, if Charles has established enough trust. I think that might be one of his underlying principles, eroded but still stable: I do not want to become the swine who killed my mother, my people. I've not quite thought he would take the helmet off yet. He might, gradually, and it will be a surprise to Charles and to everyone.
