I'm old enough now that once in a while I dare to actually feel nostalgic about being a pre/teenager...only for about thirty seconds though, until I stumble upon a memory that reminds me of how fraught with drama and anxiety it was.

Congrats, though, on how well you both handled that. I was never a *vicious* teen girl that tried to bite back, but it took me a looong time to realize that you have to ignore/cut off the bullshit and drama. And to have enough backbone to stop feeling like I needed the "friendship" of anyone who would have me, regardless of how they treated me.

Wow, amazing daughter you have there... and you are (always have been) her amazing momma. Keep up the communication because when it comes right down to it, that's the only doorway you have for teaching... oh, and your own example. Actually, they learn more from watching than from listening. You obviously are doing it right!
