Amélie Anne: 4 pounds, 14 ounces; 5 weeks premature

Aug 26, 2012 02:20

One would think that I would have written about an event which happened seven weeks ago...well, seven weeks ago. That's just not how I roll though. And really, this shouldn't have been happening the first week of July. The midwives and doctors told us that this was going to be occurring in the middle of last week. Specifically, they gave us a ( Read more... )

I have my suspicions about the drugs used on True for induction - and she could go into more detail about the subject anyway. Madeline was delivered vaginally, so we were assured that there was no risk of uterine rupture. I hesitate to elaborate publicly on this particular point aside from saying that she and I felt steamrolled on many issues which we thought we'd have been steadfast in...were fear and fatigue not played upon.

I'm sitting here in shock... I knew that Amélie had come early, when I saw her in the NICU picture on Facebook, but hadn't realized it had been so precarious. Likewise, I'm at a loss for words that aren't "You are so lucky" or "Thank goodness for Magee."

Beautiful name, though. :) How are your girls doing now?

The girls are doing great. Amélie has actually had a much easier time of it since coming home. Madeline is actually adapting quite well into her new role as big sister. Since Amélie was born before Madeline turned two, we're hoping that neither one of them being able to remember life without the other will minimise any potential for sibling rivalry. That's what some studies have claimed anyhow.

This, I think, best sums up her disposition: "someday Amélie is going to ask about her birth and I will tell her that she burst out of my belly like the Kool-Aide Man. OH YEAH!"

Only you Seth. I almost spit coffee out my nose!

Let me know again if you need anything, okay?
