Hubby just broke my head. While making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, he casually commented to me, "You know, I like Pokemon, but I can't think about it too much or it hurts my brain. Apparently! And it took him HOW many years to come up with this thought? My 12-year-old was into Pokemon when he was small! I guess this has been kicking around in hubby's brain for YEARS now! :P

We did see Ash's mom briefly at the beginning of the series, and while she misses him, she's okay with him going off and exploring. Apparently leaving home as a tweenager to become a Pokemon trainer is a viable career path in their world. Now the kid I really worry about is Dora the Explorer - she's like 5 or so and her parents are totally cool with her wandering around all over with a monkey?

It's established Pokeverse canon that all Nurse Joys are identical and all Officer Jennies are identical. I don't know if it was ever explained exactly how this works though.
