Okay, yeah, this sucks. I'll admit it, okay? I hate that nobody ever wants to... no, y'know what? Forget people not ever wanting to do anything, people don't even hardly know I'm there unless I say something. It blows and I hate it and I'm... lonely. Okay? I said it, are you all happy now?

not actually much different from normal, lonely neil is lonely, only the lonely, cursed, neil is breaking down a little

Oh? [Kazari spies someone he could eventually use for nefarious reasons] Then why don't you ask more often?

'Cause I'm tired of being the one who has to. Wouldn't kill someone else to make an effort for once.

Maybe they don't realize they don't have to make such an effort. Or maybe they're the wrong type of friends... ones who don't really appreciate you.

[Neil's bad mood is making him single out worst-case scenarios, so he only heard the second part of that.] Yeah, wrong type of friends, maybe.

Well, no, not happy about you being lonely. Not happy about being lonely, myself. It's a very particular feeling. You know how to go about getting apartments here?

I mean. I expect I'll be at work a bit more often now but I nearly always up for stuff in general. I don't know how helpful that is on the other side of you having said... that, particularly with having also said that having to say it is half the point. But. My point stands not-so-tall regardless.

I dunno. When I got here, I just moved in with... [He trails off and frowns.] Yeah, I dunno. Sorry.

...You wanna... do stuff? With me?

Why not? I mean unless you're secretly a M'shrit'n in disguise you seem like a pretty cool guy. Looking for direwolves and puppies and such with a humble apothecarian such as myself.

You wanna do stuff, I wanna do stuff, I don't see the point in doing different stuff. Might just be me.

[That's a good point. But Neil is still kind of floored.]

No, I mean, yeah, if you really want to. Th-that'd be cool.

Would you like me to come over and make you tea?

[Not that she knows how to use a kettle, yet. But she will try, gdi.]

[Silence, for a while. And then,]

...Maybe.

I mean, that'd be... yeah, maybe. Yes.

[About thirty seconds later and there is a knock on the apartment door. She's learning to be polite and not just appear in people's bedrooms.]

[Neil answers presently, not sure if he's more surprised at the speed or the fact that she actually came.]

Oh. Uh... hey.

[Quite uncursed, but there's something about this that reminds her of Neville Longbottom, back in the day. So this gentle attempt at cheering up isn't entirely random, never mind that she doesn't actually know the bloke on the other end of this conversation.]

You know, usually it's the quiet ones that surprise everyone else. In my experience they tend to be loads more brilliant than they let on.

...Yeah? You... Y'think so?

Absolutely. I've a friend back home who can relate, I think; loads of people sort of took him for granted, and even when he spoke up, most just laughed. [She pauses, then states delicately,] Gits. But when things got hard, he stepped up, became something of a hero.

[Neil has kind of latched on to the fact that she's said "brilliant" and "hero." He likes the sounds of that.]

How long'd it take for your friend to uh... step up, or whatever?
