Mordred came looking for Owain, who was last heard from visiting his mother in her isolated castle; but Owain had gone by the time he arrived, and turning back that day was neither practical nor polite. So he has, grudgingly, accepted Morgan's hospitality, which doesn't mean he plans to sleep tonight

*One doesn't pace throughout the passages of Morgan's castle without her knowledge. So Mordred doesn't have all that much time of sleepless wandering before Morgan turns up. She hasn't been asleep either, obviously - she is still dressed, and her hands smell of herbs. She's carrying a candle - the passages are dark* Why are you still up? Are the beds not soft enough?
