The Time Traveler's Wife

I have had a shitty day. And for no good reason*.

The project I've been working on since August FINALLY went to the printer today. That's actually a good thing. However, the courier who came to pick up my files and comps came to the back door. WTF? That was creepy.

But this is happiness....

I had heard that Claire Forlani was slated to play this role ( Read more... )

Making to-do lists always clear my head. Cleaning and organizing also does that.

I hope you feel better. I think you are amazing if that helps. <3

*Hugs* Well if there's anything I can do to cheer you up let me know. It won't do to have you so distressed.

What's the book about?

Aww, thanks hon. Can you go through all 1000 emails I need to sort through, and somehow figure out how many hours I worked and for what in December? lol. Yeah, me either. Thank you though.

The story....It is an unconventional love story that centers on a man with a strange genetic disorder that causes him to unpredictably time-travel, and his wife, an artist who has to cope with his frequent absences and dangerous experiences. And he meets his one-day wife as a little girl, and also as a teenager. It's a wonderful story!

A man who occasionally time travels (unwillingly) and repeatedly ends up in places in time with the girl who would be his wife later on. Among other things. But it's fabulous!!

I'm so glad you mentioned TTW! It's one of my favorite novels of all time, which is saying something because I'm a Brit Lit (Victorian) scholar and it's not often that contemporary American fiction gets near the top of my list. I've recommended it to everyone I know, and so far everyone who's read it has loved. How could anyone not?

I, too, have my reservations about the film adaptation. I like Eric Bana, but he seems a bit old for the part. I imagined Henry as a sort of skinny somewhat nerdy youthful guy who ages harshly because of the stress. Not sure about the casting for Clare yet but doesn't look awful. Ron Livingston may make a good Gomez. But who knows? Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Oh, it's so nice to meet someone else who understands how good that book is.

Pamper yourself a bit and feel better soon. ((()))

Sorry you had a shitty day - that sucks. (((hugs))) Believe me I understand. Every time I turned around today, there was more bad news at work. It is going to get ugly.

That book sounds interesting, I'd never heard of it. Now I gotta get it.

Oh DO get the book. It really is a classic. Memoirs of a Geisha, Middlesex, and The Time Traveler's WIfe - contemporary classics. And I think TTW might be the best of those three.

Middlemarch is definitely amazing, but not as personally touching or as easy to get into. I studied Middlemarch for half a semester in college and I'm still not sure I get it. What I did get, though, I liked! Lol. TTW is the perfect bittersweet intelligent romance to lose onself in and never forget.

Middlemarch? I was talking about Middlesex - a story of discovery from the pov of a hermaphrodite. An amazing story. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middlesex_(novel)
