Once upon a time, I was an Anthropology major, Cultural Anthropology to be exact, and I lived in Nepal and India (mostly Nepal - Kathmandu, Pokhara, and a tiny town in the mountains that barely had running water and electricity, Marpha) for a little while working on some projects. Also where I went on the "secret spy mission" even though it really wasn't just seemed like it. (At least I think it wasn't.) But all I wanted to do when I was there was draw, paint and take pictures, so I came home, enrolled in some art classes and then moved to San Fran.
Other cities: San Francisco (now my second fave and I get to fly there about once a month for work), Minneapolis (hated it, but it is where I met my husband), Seattle, LA (where I grew up)
I'm so glad you had fun beig there with all your friends and your neighbours! It's always nice to meet and to know people you live next to.I think it's sad to see that sometimes you don't even know your neighbours' names or what job they have.To get to know people is a really good way to be open-minded and to enjoy living in society. Here in my quarter we have severals annuals meetings (for Christmas, for the first of May, and we have a "giant" barbecue in the beginning of September) where we meet, eat and drink together. It's great to enjoy this moments.I love these simple but true moments. Have a really nice day. Kisses, Sertyl
Thanks! It is a really great to enjoy living in society - I totally agree. Every time I've moved somewhere new, I want to get to know my neighbors. Right now, I know each of the three houses around me, and one not as well as I'd like. It so easy to isolate, but I think it's important that we push our selves out of the nest. I gather you don't live in the US. Where are you?
That sounds like fun! We used to do those, but the last few years, no one's wanted to head up the organizing of it. But I love living in a neighborhood where we're all friends and hang out, so I know what you mean. Too many people don't have the wonderful sense of community, and don't know what they're missing.
I've never been to Portland, so I can't say anything about it, but I love San Fran, though I think New Orleans is my favorite city. Love Chicago, too, that's another fun city. Someday, I'll get to Vegas, the last time I planned a trip there, my husband knocked me up and we couldn't go. Maybe next year.
I think that is so cool that you've lived in so many neat places. I would have loved to have been able to do that. You are very lucky.

Sounds like you've lived a variety of places. You've lived overseas? Do tell more!
