DMHG ahoy

Er, I dunno why the pirate reference. So, awhile back I let my OCD flag fly over on crackbroom's Harry/Ron page and devour probably 85% of the recs there. Yesterday I almost finished the Draco/Hermione tags. I left a few key stories for the end. Now, I have to decide what order to read (or reread) them in.

The End List:
Broken (which I never ( Read more... )

I like your list. I am on my second read of Broken, Dowry I've only read twice, the rest I've read once at least. The Dreamers doesn't ring a bell in me. The Fallout, I am scared of it. I haven't finished it. Need I think the last 8 or 9 chapters of it. I am with you on The Dragon's Bride it is intimidating to read again. I say do Broken, but before starting stock up on tissues, wine and music. Inadaze references many songs for her story so ask her for the titles. Be ready to hurt, a lot.

Oh man, the hurt. Yes, I recall from when I read it before. Tissues, please!

I don't have an opinion on the list above (beyond reading what you haven't read before), but I'm currently reading stories by theme (memory) rather than pairing, and it's very cool. Of course there are some ships I'm not interested in, and it's more work because you can't simply click the memories tag for a ship at crack_broom. But for D/Hr, H&V, GE, and accioDHR all have theme tags, and you can search Archive of Our Own for tags and words. Ditto AFFnet. I also worked from painless_j's lists.

Since you're more of a pan-shipper like me, I thought I'd throw that out there. :)

That is a super cool idea! I've been stuck on crackbroom because of the filtering for quality, which, while not fool-proof is generally good. I can't seem to get my head around the navigation of ao3. :( but I've definitely done that on acciodhr and H&V - god, I'd DIE for a structure like those two for other pairings. Okay, not die, swoon, perhaps. Especially harry/Hermione which is, as I've lamented before, one my favorite ships and full of sooo much muck. Hmmmm... I'm sensing a personal project coming on, which I certainly don't have time for, but perhaps, desperately need. Oh God. What have I done?

And, should I set it up on LJ or what?

D/Hr really does seem to have the best sites/archives in terms of navigation. I wish everyone followed suit!

You could just start out straight-up doing a Harry/Hermione rec list (for quality), and as you read mark down recurring themes you see (ship or fandom-specific or just of interest to you). Then AFTER making your list of faves, you can put them into lists by theme.

Just finished The Fallout - it is awesome.

Aside from that, I've been comfort reading (mainly ss/hg) but I just started TDB again. I had forgotten all the humor - but duh, that's rizzle - she's awesome like that.

First, and most important:

((((((((((((((((( pokey )))))))))))))))

Hello my dear. I love the term comfort reading. That's perfect. I'm making my way through floofics now from the bottom of the oneshots list up, then, either TDB or Fallout. I'm totally divided on which I want to end on.

These are the important decisions in my life.
