Reccomend me a book!

I've just finished reading The Secret Life of Bees, which I adored and I'm quite glad that I hadn't read it earlier because it made so much more of an impact this year because of Obama's victory. In fact, I feel like writing an extra scene like a long delayed epilogue and I never get that urge with books ( Read more... )

I've read The Time Traveler's Wife and it made me cry too. When I started to think too much about it, I would get a little confused by the time travel aspect and it's effect but overall, I really, really enjoyed it. It's a beautiful love story.

Eek, it's so hard for me to pick just one. Okay, I'll give two.

Special Topics in Calamity Physics by Marisha Pessel.

Sweetness in the Belly by Camilla Gibb.

Thank you :) I haven't read either so I'll look them up. I pretty much read all the time but I go through phases where I devour books and I'm in one of those now. I've read three this week and they've all been very good.

I'm the same, I always have a book on the go, and sometimes I read a lot. This week I've read 3 books, all of which I enjoyed. All Canadian because I read a lot of Canadian stuff.

It's kind of hard to recommend books because everyone tastes are different. Although we've both read The Secret Lives of Bees and The Time Traveler's Wife, so you might like the ones I've recommended. Both are good, although I wouldn't say either is on my top 5 list.

I'm trying to broaden my horizons when it comes to what I read. I get stuck in one genre and will read nothing else for ages so I'm trying to change that.

I'll definitely check out the books you've recced.

I've read some Tami Hoag stuff before and enjoyed it a lot. It's been a while though. I'll have to check it out. Thanks :)

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. I've recced it before I think, but it's a good one, there's even an entire LJ comm devoted to the Outlander series of novels it has a fairly large following.

You have gen and I keep meaning to read it but get daunted by how big the series is. It sounds like it's worth it so I'll have to take a look and I love historical stuff in general so it sounds like my cup of tea.

I bought the Life of Pi last week and am going to read it as soon as I finish the one I'm on now. I've heard such good stuff about it. A Curious Incident in the Night-Time is another one that I've been meaning to read for a while.

Thanks for the suggestion :)
