I do sometimes bring my own.  Really.  It's just that a lot of times I'm too tired to feel like reading.  Also, Mike usually goes to sleep on me in the mornings, which makes it kind of difficult to read.

But.  I saw a couple of books recently (besides Watchmen) that caught my eye.  The first one was Away, by Amy Bloom.  It was the cover that ( Read more... )

Yeah! It was in my favorite book of fairy tales. Man, it's been a long time since I thought about that story. Good call, I hadn't thought about that one.

Although if you're suggesting it's the source of the book title, I'm not sure. The book is about the life of the prophet Elijah and lessons one can draw from it. (I looked it up.) Caporushes seems like a bit of an odd mix with that. Although I suppose you never know.

Patricia C Wrede is coming out with a new book called, "The Thirteenth Child". It's awesome. My librarian friend got an advance copy that we've been passing around and it's really good. You might want to check it out in April if you like her other stuff.

It's probably teen-ish or YA, but still good.

Ooh! Ooh! I like Patricia C. Wrede. I was a big fan of Dealing with Dragons et al. But particularly Dealing with Dragons. I liked the main character so much - especially since there didn't seem to be any particular push in the book to get her married off by the end. Anyway. Definitely interested in The Thirteenth Child. Hopefully I'll remember this until April. If not, hopefully I'll eventually read back through my LJ posts and find this again. *grin.
