Evernight, take #2!

Finally got around to starting the process of rewriting my NaNoWriMo novel Evernight. Got myself Scrivener, and holy shit, how did I ever write without it?! It's just soooo useful! I'm in love. No more having a dozen different OpenOffice documents open at the same time and having to tab between them to check what colour my main character's boss' ( Read more... )

fangirling is fun, evernight, writing, nanowrimo

Late to the party, but isn't Scrivener amazing? It's streamlined, it's speedy, and it helps get things done. I don't think I would have finished my NaNovel without it. I definitely don't miss having seven windows open for Word and LibreOffice for the sake of working on one document. It's like having a gigantic book-marked binder handy without the rings popping open on me whenever I turn around too fast.

(also hai, you friended me back on the NaNo forums earlier in the year, eheh ^^; )

And I've noticed the band in your music status, and I've listened to samples on Last.FM, and I have to say that I like what I've heard so far. Could you recommend something for a newbie?

Hii! ^^ Scrivenr certainly is amazing!

And I shall be more than happy to help, regarding MDB! ^_^ Let's see. Aaron himself says that if someone should buy/listen to just one album from MDB, it should be 'Dreadful Hours', because it's the quintessential MDB album; it has a bit of everything that their sound is made of. I do not disagree, but I'd like to add that 'Like Gods of the Sun' may also be a good one to start with. I've been told that 'Songs of Darkness, Words of Light' may be easier to get into than Dreadful Hours, but personally I prefer Dreadful Hours. 'A Line of Deathless Kings' is also great, but many old school fans don't like it because Aaron tried a more technical vocal style there and people claim it's lacking something of the heavy emotion characteristic to his voice.

...Well. I really can't decide what might be the best to start with, so I'll do it the other way around: don't start with '34.788%...Complete' because it's the least MDB-sounding album. And also Evinta might be better saved until later.
