Catching up on entertainment

Happy New Year everyone! I spent three weeks in India, and as always was both kind of sad to leave and happy to get back to my own place too. I wish India was a little bit closer to America, maybe just a 5 hour plane ride instead of a 19 hour one ( Read more... )

I think Brooklyn Nine-Nine stays pretty level in quality, except two episodes ago had puppies so you should watch that. I agree that Andy Samberg is annoying, but I like the rest of the cast so much that I'm willing to put up with him. I don't usually like comedies, but this one has been great.

Not really fannish about Pac Rim either, though think I could watch it again. A few more times. I really loved all the characters, and I hope they make another one.

Need to reread all the Ile-Rien books. Tremaine ♥♥

Ok, will keep on with Brooklyn Nine Nine. I mostly liked it and nothing bothered me even in the bits that I didn't find as funny, so that's always a plus for sitcoms :D

Ok, keeping on with it then! Fox seems to have the episodes up on their site, have to check how far back they go...

Tremaine! She is my favorite forever. ♥

Element of Fire is set several hundred years earlier, so no worries about missing things. There are a few references - for instance, there's a ship in the trilogy named after Queen Ravenna, who is a major character in EoF.

Death of the Necromancer is about Tremaine's parents, and it's somewhat more closely connected in that it shares some characters with the trilogy... but the plot is not related at all, and there's 30 or so years in between.

It's awesome to see a reference to the Ile-Rien books on my flist. I love those books, and they are so much less well-known than they deserve.

I was midway into Wizard Hunters before I realized there were books before it, but then I figured I wasn't missing a huge connection because nothing was particularly confusing, so it's on the slate to be caught up with next :)

I love Martha's writing, the Raksura series was like it was tailormade to fit exactly all the kinds of things I like in fiction, perfect emotion/action balance, with the added bonus of really cool world building, and everything about the Ile Rien books seems the same way too.

Hello! *waves* I saw your artwork on tumblr (I'm smithkingsley over there) and thought I'd come say hi on your LJ. (Hope that's okay.) I loved the one with the queer Indian women and it's so cool that you were in India for a bit!

Hi! I'd been working on that one for a while now, just sort of doing a bit at a time and I finally managed to finish it. It's very near to my heart so I'm really glad you liked it! I grew up in India and it's so hard sometimes to find Indian focused queer content, so I'm trying to do at least a little bit to contribute to it :)
