And seeing things like this terrible Presidential race, where both major party candidates are such horrible people, certainly reinforces that impression, that things are getting

Do you want sci-fi/fantasy recs for books with basically good outcomes, where obstacles are overcome and nothing profoundly horrifying happens in the course of the story? I started trying to default-avoid stories that are all grimdark or where people are regularly raped or tortured, and I'm the happier for it.

I've been watching a lot of Phineas and Ferb (a cartoon, in case you aren't up on kid's cartoon-y things) instead of watching the news. It's hilarious, and I'm a much happier person for doing so.

I know 'head in the sand' isn't ideal, but going completely batshit out of my mind over this stuff isn't either...plus, cartoons!
