Passed around from friends (not really Amish)
Important note, do not use metal spoons or bowls with this batter.
Day Zero: the day the starter was prepared
Day One: mix (if the starter is in a bag, kneed the bag)
Day Two: mix
Day Three: mix
Day Four: mix
Day Five: add 1 cup each of flour, sugar and milk, mix well. remove air and seal.
Day Six: mix
Day Seven: mix
Day Eight: mix
Day Nine: mix
Day Ten: Empty starter into large mixing bowl. Add 1.5 cups flour, sugar and milk. Mix well. Make four starters of one cup of batter each. Mark the date on the bag/container
To the remaining batter in the bowl add:
3 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 large box of vanilla instant pudding
1 cup oil
1 cup sugar (white or brown)
3 tsp cinnamon
2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
Optional: raisins, nuts, cranberries, dates.
Mix well, beaters are not required.
Mix 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon with 1/4 cup sugar. Grease two loaf pans, dust with cinnamon/sugar mixture. Save some for the top of the loaf.
Bake for one hour at 325ºF.
