Thank you all for your lovely comments. I’ve just got back from South Africa and I loved it! I’m going to try to answer the questions here and I’ll journal some time this week. No, Jason hasn’t given up on his journal, we’ve just made a lot of friends here and so he found a new group of gaming buddies to occupy his time. Amie, I’m not sure what ( Read more... )

Ilana,

You have no idea how much I look forward to you and Jason posting in your journals! Please let Jason know that I received his email with his next journal entry and I'm going to have Amie-June post it (hopefully today)instead of me as she knows way more about it than I do.

Maybe when you post next time you can give me a heads up on how to pronounce Mauritius? I don't have a clue! Tell Jason I have the National Geographic World Atlas that he and Amie-June gave me for Christmas out on the kitchen table opened to wherever you both are in the world! It's still open to Africa, and I will change it in a few days to Mauritius. I have no idea what you have planned for your time there, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see!

Diane

A birembau is a musical instrument. It looks like an archery bow with a gourd attached for amplifying sound. A ton of people on the ship got them. I didn't have the room for one, much less for a hammock, which I really wanted (there were so many pretty ones).

We saw the tablecloth too. We hiked up Table Mountain on a clear sunny day and cloud cover had developed by the time we reached the top. It was sad that we missed the view, but it was neat being inside the cloud too.

The seals are such hams.
