yah, waxing cynical (poetic) (bitter) (etc) down east too. *cheez*

but outside of reproduction, we're expected also to be "visually appealing" at all times, while there are no such expectations of the male. the male is expected to be useful, strong, fit, to fulfill a function. to perform a job. in their case, culture allows that form follows function, so a useful (read: athletic) body is also attractive. but women are expected to go beyond the simple healthy fitness & hygiene required of men, & are, in fact encouraged by our culture to be UNhealthy- various eating disorders, artificial implants, fake hair, fake nails, painful shoes, constricting clothing... o balls. i'm supposed to be winding down for sleepytime, but instead i'm getting all riled up...
