Gillian has said in the DVD commentary that she likes the jackets.

I really like your second point about her jackets being an armor. Even nonconforming can become a style.

Hah, I was just going off a Professor Slater quote. Britta might actually have another one but I was so tired of looking through a million screencaps by that point that I just picked a few and called it a day.
