Catmares

Last night I was having a dream, and in it, a cat was meowing. It took a few minutes to realize that actually, now I was awake and Janis was screaming. It was 4am. Joe and I went downstairs, and she was laying on the floor, yelling. We pet her and poked at her to see if she had somehow hurt herself. She started purring, but the yelling continued. I've heard plenty of cat-in-heat yowling. This was different. It sounded more like when she is locked outside all night and sits under our window to let us know how displeased she is.

yep. when we got her (she was a bit less than a year old) we had her spayed.

she actually did something somewhat similar once, about a year and a half ago--she started running around the house yowling, and when she would stop she would be panting very heavly and looking insane. again, after about 20 minutes it stopped.

totally strange...

That's weird...
My cat Bata talks to himself.....he'll be in the other room meowing away....it's not even a real meow...it's some strange noise I can't describe in type....but he's completely fine, I think he just likes to hear his own voice....he's half siamese so I think it's understandable....I've had to explain to my landlords I don't lock him in a closet or something when I leave, cause they thought he sounded like it when I wasn't home....I think he just gets lonely, I'm his only contact and he follows me around like a puppy dog when I'm home...waits at the door for me when I get home...I wish I could let him go outside, but the landlords say no....they don't want cat fights with their cats....
but I've never heard of this.....you got her from the shelter....mabie she has PTSD flashbacks....who knows.....
or it could just be crazy kitty attacks...prevalent in kittens, sporadic in adult cats....
