This is what happens when it gets cold in the South

So hey guys! Here in Louisiana, aka the boot, we're getting "wintery mix" which basically means a lot of slush and wet and cold. This state is not equipped to handle these kind of shenanigans. Work refuses to shut down, I'm local so of course I made it but a lot of my co-workers live up to an hour away from here. They called in.

It hasn't been ( Read more... )

work, real life

So wait, work is open, but you don't have a place to eat? That sucks.

We can eat at the (one) restaurant that's left open but like, a six inch sub is almos seven bucks. totally not worth it.

Sure doesn't sound like it. I'd think that if I went into work on a day like that, the company should try to be at least a little accommodating when it comes to feeding the employees. What is it that you do?

sit around and get fat from lack of exercise

I make reservations over the phone. So I am now completely incapable of controlling my facial expression in any given conversation because I'm always making ridiculous faces at the phone.

hi, bb! aqua's grr face is extremely appropriate. that's the one thing that i liked about working fast food, i always got to munch while i worked XD *is a fatty*

wintry mix, pfft. that's child's play. we don't close for less than three inches. ALSO i am so bored that i am watching (500) days of summer in spanish and actually trying to understand it so yeah.

I now have a shameless collection of appropriate Aqua expression icons.

Dude. When I worked at McDonald's we used to pilfer the chicken nuggets ALL the time. I'm surprised I didn't weigh like, a billion pounds by the time I quit there.

Well yes, it's child's play to you but this is a state that dresses like they're going to the north pole if the temp drops to 40.

I'm reading Big Bang Theory fic because the fandom is actually fairly awesome and get the snarky bits just right and even if not everyone can use the stupid large scientific words it's still extremely in character and exciting AND BY THE WAY YOU NEED TO WATCH THIS SHOW SO I CAN MAKE YOU SHIP SHELDON/PENNY!!

so...how's that spanish thing going for you?

the only time i wasn't constantly eating when i worked fast food was when i was working in the back, coincidentally.

man, i'd like to watch the show! it's just that i cannot deal with a new fandom right now :/ like, maybe once i get caught up on school stuff? just maybe? but right now i've got band and ap and everything, which SUCKS because there are so many fandoms i want to get into but just can't. senior year is ruining my lack of life.

pretty well, actually! whoever is subbing zooey has a really easy-to-understand voice, i can dig it.

Mmm back drive was my favorite. I had relative peace and quiet and got to bring books with me and ate back there on my lunch and would often work THROUGH lunch because I wanted mah munny.

I CAN COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND THAT BB AND SCHOOL IS VERY, VERY IMPORTANT AND THERE IS ALWAYS THE SUMMER AND TRUST ME, AS SOON AS YOU HAVE FREETIME I WILL ATTACK YOU WITH A SHIT TON OF SHOWS/BOOKS/SITUATIONS YOU SHOULD BE INVOLVED IN.

fun fact: I used to like turning on like, Harry Potter in spanish because ti was SO weird. (also, i've never seen 500 Days of Summer. tis it good?)

You forgot to mention how all schools have been closed because of the 20 degree weather.

We coastal folk just aren't prepared for The Cold. No salt for roads, no plowing should it snow (and it actually snowed very very heavily in 1972. I was 2! We have home movies.

Everyone was at Wal-Mart today hoarding toilet paper and canned goods. It was hilarious!

I remember being like, eight and we had a hard freeze and the entire world shut down. I can't even imagine if it SNOWED.

ALSO! that thing about wal-mart is why I am glad I do not work in grocery stores anymore. My god. (we've had a shameless amount of people COMING FROM TEXAS because "the weather is bad" how does that make sense??)
