The Locket

Upon closer observation of the cover of the final Harry Potter book, I noticed that Harry's wearing a locket. I'm sure a lot of people have already noticed this, but what does this mean, exactly? Is the locket the real one of the fake one? If it IS the real one, has it been destroyed or is Harry somehow using it to negotiate with Voldemort? I think
