I just can't see the Doctor pulling the kind of Trickster shit Gabriel does. His sense of humor isn't nearly juvenile enough.

Yeah...that's the thing. Gabriel did things like that to people because it amused him to see them punished to fit their crimes...the Doctor did it out of anger. I can't see him smiling as he watches them suffer. Not like Gabriel laughed at the frat boy slowdancing with the alien.
