Also: No. You are not the only one who obsessively stalks their statistics. Every time we post a new chapter of "Better than Destiny" shinychimera takes note of what the hits/comments/kudos etc were beforehand.
I'm ridiculous about stalking my stats. Every time a kudo or comment notification appears in my inbox, I check the hit counter, too. It's slightly ridiculous, but it works for me. ;)
Oh, goodness, you're not the only one. I'm also obsessively watching the hit counts rise (....slowly) on my seven anon works, because . . . well, just because. :)
I think many people either stalk their stats or hide them. I mostly do it because I know that tons of people read fics that they like and never comment (guilty) so it gives me some sort of horribly inaccurate idea of how many people are at least looking at the fics.
And I don't think HP is very active on AO3. I've been browsing HP fics all day, and the hitcounts are astonishingly low. I think the fandom just grew up elsewhere. (While Sherlock is extremely active on AO3.)
I...only post my stuff on LJ, so I can't stalk my fic. I sorta feel like I'm writing in the dark. -_- As long as I get *A* comment, I'm doing ok, but there's a lot that have nothing, not even "OMG YOU SUCK" comments.
I think I have some AO3 invite codes available from the last fest I ran if you want one. It's a fun place to play, and I think Sherlock stories get more hits than they do on LJ.
Of course, you can also stalk your fic through LJ's stats feature...
