Thank you so much for this! I haven't seen any of the Resident Evil movies, but this fic makes me want to. As always, your descriptions are amazing, and I love your last line.

I'm not sure the movies' Alice is quite as poetic as she came out here (although she does have the best line in one of the films: "My name is Alice. And I remember everything.")

And, honestly, although I love them dearly I'm not sure how much is there to recommend the Resident Evil movies. They're Zombie movies, and there are several Bad Ways to Die in them, certainly; Alice is the focal character but a lot about her is also about the Male Gaze (and, well, Milla Jovovich, so I will admit there's a fair amount of ogling on my part, too) -- but she's also kick-ass and at least in the first two movies refuses to be subordinate just because she's a woman (something she and Rain [Michelle Rodriguez] have in common).

Actually, the first movie is in some ways a lot about "looking at."

I may be overthinking this.
