follow the creepy brick road.

Not that I see myself going anywhere, but I set up journals (at least, to comment): here on InsaneJournal & here on GreatestJournal (long username 'cause of one of those handy 'made an account and never updated' cases. Which I don't understand, given this username is connected to combustion. Huh.) Truth be told, I'd rather set up a blog again ( Read more... )

wtf, livejournal

Friended you on both sites as well. ;) Yeah -- 'cause right now, not planning to go anywhere but might as well. Online back-up besides my ljArchive file at least!

I'd probably also go the private blog route myself, at least, and maybe just use those places to do pointers to it. Because I love how clean and simple I'm getting things looking here, and I... do not really love the GJ and IJ interfaces.

Oh! I LOVE that layout! I never got the hang of using WordPress so kudos to you for making it shiny.

...huh, that reminds me -- note to self: figure out blogging stuff again. Just in case. Because yeah, sometimes I'd just upload via FTP my updates. Ahh. Back in the olden times.

The GJ and IJ interfaces look terrible. I can't stand them. I'm picky with site interfaces as it is (though funny enough, I still have the XColibur LJ site scheme) but those are just EVIL.

Glad it can help. Yeah, they are. I freaking hate those other interfaces and other than archiving there, I don't really see myself using them.

Have you tried ljArchive? That's my preferred method -- had I not found that tutorial I honestly wouldn't go backing up my journal to those sites. Took 10 minutes, tops. If anything, I'd use the other journals just to comment on things (I've been meaning to, since I know a few people who use those sites). And I tend to lose back ups offline, so this is okay. But otherwise, I REALLY don't see myself leaving LJ, other than if RL stuff comes up. I guess it's just a question of if it works or not, but if it doesn't and you have no intention of leaving LJ, I wouldn't sweat it.

Added you on both. I think, if the worst comes to the worst I'm pinching the LJ open source code and setting up a blog that way. What can I say? I'm rather set in my ways when it comes to blogging and I do love the Flexible Squares layout.

Will add you back on both in a minute. I do like LJ for the friends list and comment pages -- they make everything so much easier rather than having to visit blog site after blog site, but if I ever had to leave (and I don't see this happening), I'd just end up using WordPress or something similar. Too lazy to get the LJ code. Too much hassle, actually. ;)
