Glee scene

This Wednesday's Glee was amazingly amazing, especially the songs; one song in particular just blew my mind: "Maybe This Time" from Cabaret, sung by (guest star SPOILER; highlight to see) Kristin Chenoweth (who sang and acted the hell out of this episode, BTW) (END SPOILER) and Lea Michele ( Read more... )

Maybe This Time is my least favourite song from Cabaret but I absolutely adored Glee's version. It was amazing. God, I love this show.

I listened to the original version of the song and I was, like, "Meh, it's alright, I guess," but the Glee version of it just astounded me, I think because of all the nuances and depth Kristin Chenoweth brought to it, and the really lovely way it was shot--switching back and forth between the Glee club to the drama rehearsal and building the momentum and energy up for the finale. Having Kristin and Lea mirror each others body language and recontextualizing the song so it fit in both their character's plotlines was really clever, and I just loved the very end when their voices were blended together.

And the humor afterward was perfect; that was a naked, powerful scene, so lightening it up with the Glee club gaping at April and Kurt dabbing away a tear was timed just right.

AHHH I NEED A GLEE ICON

I agree, I listened to the original version of the song and it didn't really have that openness and energy that the Glee version had; Kristin Chenoweth staggered me with her voice and her acting in this song in particular, and blending Kristin and Lea's voices together at the end was so amazing. Glee has had a lot of really wonderful moments in the short time it's been on, but so far, this was my favorite. ^___^ <333

I won't lie, I clapped at the end. At the tv. LMAO! I couldn't help it, I was too happy--at that point I was pretty much, like, OMFG, GLEE, I LOVE YOU FOREVER AND EVER, OMG #REWATCH#. ^___^ <3333

Did you want me to upload the mp3 of this as well?

I agree, the video part is half of what makes the song so amazing (the acting and the switches between April and Rachel are really extraordinary here), but I got the mp3 as well just for the heck of it. If you change your mind, just let me know! <3333

Agreed. That was pretty much a brilliant episode! I have to deal with a lot of anti-Glee in my house but I love it! It's too addictive!!!!

I actually got my mom hooked on Glee thanks to this song, LOL! I'd been meaning to make her watch it for a while, but today I was finally, like, "YOU NEED TO WATCH THIS," and I put on this scene and then had her watch the whole episode, and after it was over she was, like, "I LOVE THIS SHOW." And I was, like, "I TOLD YOU!" Now I need to burn the first four episodes on DVD for her to watch.
