I am watching "Last Night" and CRYING.

Somehow, I didn't expect it to actually be sad.

Okay, right, yeah, I know the concept itself should have been a tip off. But seriously, all I knew about it when I ordered it in was A) Callum Keith Rennie is in it and 2) the description given in the 'publisher info' on our computer system -- basically, the copy from the slipcase.

Allow me to quote some examples of the text I had before me. From the front: "Party like there's no tomorrow... because there isn't." And an excerpt off the back: "With time running out, a crazy group of big-city dwellers are determined to go out with a bang....It's the party to end all others when one man's romantic rebirth collides with the last night on earth."

So, I was expecting more, I don't know, gallows humor or something. Or else something that simply failed in its attempt to be serious which would be unintentionally funny.

Not something actually TRAGIC. Guh. Seriously, CRYING.

I'd say it's definitely worth renting. And I'm happy to own it, what with my sad,sad crush on CKR.

An amazing film, with a horrifically misleading box, it's all about how would people really spend your final hours, if everyone knew the end was coming in advance. (And how would the way other people react affect those plans -- what with all the social breakdown in the final day, once the fear of consequences is removed.)
