I think my initial excitement and reaction to most shows/episodes is very tied to not knowing what's going to happen next. (I'm finding this in Fringe atm, because we recently reached the point from which I am totally unspoiled, and I've gone from being kind of meh about the show to being utterly hooked omg.) But I think my subsequent reactions, upon rewatching, are at least partly informed by my reaction to my first viewing. Like, I've found that for episodes of White Collar for which I've been spoiled, I can't even enjoy them (in the OMG thrill! way) on a re-watch. :-/ And I suspect I'm also more likely to enjoy rewatching something that I was in a good mood for, the first time through ( ... )

Never worry about 'spamming' -- if I didn't want to discuss the links, I wouldn't have posted them!

I wonder how much that's the spoilers versus the irritation over the fact of being spoiled (not that there's any way to separate the two)? There's an episode of Flashpoint that I can't rewatch, because when it aired, I was getting into a Moff's Law argument with the person I was watching it with.

Once the retail season ends, my job will get less stressful. (I keep telling myself this.)

I hope you're enjoying 2012 already in the FUTURE.

Ooh, thank you for that link. I hadn't come across it before, and SO MUCH YES!

So far 2012 is very pleasant! I recommend it. :-)

I used to love spoilers, couldn't get enough of them. When Buffy was on, I would read the spoilers that were posted the same day, just hours before I would be able to watch it myself. I couldn't stop myself. Right now, I'm frantically watching the current season of Dexter in hopes of seeing it all w/o being spoiled. Some article on the top shows of 2011 spoiled me for the ending of the mid-season finale of Walking Dead, and I'm still pissed.

Interesting! I wonder why that changed?

Also, I haaaate Entertainment Weekly, because they spoiled the end of a season of Dexter in their TABLE OF CONTENTS once -- for an article about what someone was doing after they left the show. (An actor leaving a show? A spoiler, but a forgivable one, since it's about real life. How the CHARACTER leaves the show? Arrrrrrgh. *stabs everything*) I just got the 5th season, but haven't started watching yet (it was the fourth that got spoiled for me, after it aired but before the dvd release).
