My unorthodox introduction into the uss_murgatroid has suddenly flowered into a question of my rank within Starfleet. In order to give the doctor an idea of what my rank should be, in order to give me the promotion, I need to provide him with some more background on my society and my place within it ( Read more... )

Considering that we may have just pissed off Starfleet Command, I'm not going to try to turn an unranked, essentially NCO into a Commander. I myself only carry the title of Captain in reference to this vessel. However, I can temporarily assign you the rank of Lieutenant Commander, and put the paperwork through to make that permanent. Afterwards we can work on full Commander. I'd want you to be more fluent in English...currently more people understand the ship's Librarian than you, and that's a considerable handicap, as the Librarian only has one word.

"Ook."

(Translation: As chief officer, you are entitled to at least the rank of Lieutenant Commander. I wouldn't expect a promotion to Commander at this point in time; but given more time in the service and more commendations -- you have a good record thus far -- a promotion to Commander is certainly not an unreasonable expectation. The paperwork to establish your current rank should be done by the captain or -- failing the captain's ability to do paperwork in anything other than crayons and bodily fluids -- the acting captain and/or first officer. Since both are currently at outs with Starfleet Command, you may wish to wait on that as well.)

"Ook ook."

(Translation: Are you going to finish that banana?)
