Chapter 7

New friends

Salsabila looked outside. There’s nothing to see except a wide view of white clouds. They looked like a tuft of floating cotton in the air. She was drifted away by her thought of the unthinkable inexpressible majestic of the almighty Allah, the only God.

Subhanallah*.

Beautiful!

Masya-Allah*!

Amazing!

She closed her eyes, tried to feel the miracle of the creation of the world and the creatures on it. How great of Allah! The Earth is created with a strong field of gravity so that the creatures can live on it comfortably. The Sky ‘float’ in the air without any support but it never fall. The river and sea are joined together like an endless chain but it never mixes. The river is tasteless forever and the sea is salty forever. The day and night changes at the exact time everyday. The Sun never late neither to raise nor to set for not even a second! All of them have been nicely arranged.

Subhanallah! The praise slipped out again from her lips.

“Attention to all passengers. We are going to land in fifteen minutes. Please fasten your seatbelts. Thank you.”

Salsabila was brought into reality. She turned right and left seeing that both her friends were sleeping soundly.

“It can’t be helped. They’re so tired,” she mumbled alone.

The plane had landed safely. Salsabila threw her sight outside the window. She could see the greenery of the trees. The sun was shining brightly but not as hot as in Malaysia.

Alhamdullillah*, finally I arrive here safely. Tokyo is surely full of peace!

Unlike the first arrival, this time the both girl walked slowly together with their new friend. They’re still chatting while walking to claim for their luggage. Sometimes, they burst into laugh. This time, Miss Suhana also joined their conversation.

“My family is waiting for me. So, I guess I need to make a move first. Hope we will meet again. You’re good girls,” Saya said to Salsabila and Dini. They shook each other’s hand for the last time.

“Yea, hope we’ll meet again. You’re a good girl and friend too.”

Salsabila took a glance at Saya’s family. A smile suddenly carved on her lips. As expected, she’s his brother.

“Why are you smiling?” Dini asked her. She was confused with her friend’s sudden change. There must be something that had turned her mad. She looked at Saya’s family but she could understand nothing.

“Nothing,” Salsabila replied shortly. She’s still smiling. Finally, I see him in person!

********************************

“There’s she,” said Chinen Yuri to his parents. He pointed his finger to a girl who was walking towards them. He waved his hand to her and she waved him back.

Then, he noticed that her sister was not alone. Together with her were two school girls and a lady at her early twenty. The girls wore uniforms. But, their uniform somehow looks weird.

Saya waved to her new friends before she went to a different way. From far, she could see her parents and brother had already waited for her. She smiled to them.

She hugged her mother as soon as she reached them. She acted like they were apart for ages although she was only away for a week.

“How are you?” her mother asked.

“Genki desu,” she replied. “I miss you okaa-san. A week didn’t see you were like a year.” She kissed her cheek.

“Okaa-san only? What about me?” her father asked.

“I miss you too, otou-san,” she said and hugged him.

“By the way, you don’t even notice me here,” said Chinen Yuri with a sulking tone.

“It’s true, Saya. You know how much he misses you?” Mr. Chinen said. He wanted to tease his son.

“He really misses you, Saya. Every night, he cried alone in his room,” Mrs. Chinen added.

“Ah, don’t believe them, onee-chan. They’re lying,” Chinen Yuri denied it. “How possible for me to cry just because of you,” He blushed.

“Who knows,” Saya said. “Well, I won’t believe that you’re crying because of me either.” She ended her words with a laugh.

“Oh, actually, I have something to ask to you, onee-chan.”

“What is it?”

“Who were the girls with you just now?” he asked his sister curiously.

“They’re my new friends,” she answered. “Why? Which one do you like?” she teased her spoilt brother.

“None. It is wrong to ask?” he protested.

“You know what, you look cuter when you sulk,” Saya said while pinching her brother’s cheek.

“Enough. You can continue quarreling at home,” their mother stopped the 'fight' between the two siblings. “Let’s go home.”
