thoughts on movies

I saw two films today. Because I am no longer a teenager, I did not theater-hop. I paid for both. I think this justifies my upcoming rant tangent digression.

I will just start by saying that my hopes were moderately high for one and abysmally low for the other. Both surprised me greatly.

film, tv, so you think you can dance, teaching

I literally just walked out of Crazy, Stupid Love half an hour ago. To be honest, I had very low expectations, mostly because I don't really like Ryan Gosling. But he should wear suits more often, seriously. It's important ( ... )

I think Ryan Gosling is a far better actor than the roles he tends to play. I think we started to scratch the surface of what he can do with Blue Valentine but a lot of the things that make that film great also make it suuuuuper problematic. But, yeah. He should wear suits. Always. No other options.

I was so waiting for the film to scold the kid for the stalker thing too. To be honest, I might have walked out if I was on my own. And I could get on board with Steve Carrell's character saying that about his specific situation, no about the kid's relationship too. Cuz that shit was whack.

And dude. Totally go see Friends with Benefits. SO GOOD.

Aaaaand now I'm completely convinced that I should never watch Crazy, Stupid Love. I wasn't sure about it in the first place, because um. I've watched Hitch, and they have nearly identical storylines. So in my head, CSM is a white-washed version of Hitch. Which, just. I have lots of issues with.

I haven't seen Hitch...and I totally didn't see the resemblance until you just said that. I should have ignored the awesome cast and made that connection.

Thank goodness I also saw Friends with Benefits. It gives me hope for the genre.
