When I was making the list of fashion influences the other day, it reminded me of the MA project of a friend of mine...she was basically studying the discrepancy between what people think/see of themselves and whether that translates into what others actually interpret from us visually--she called it "Body Image: The Thesis"--and made me want to do

Thanks! My adviser (who is legit English) once had a twenty-minute conversation with another of my profs about the morality of wearing riding habit-inspired clothing. I was standing right behind them wearing my riding boots. I was like....o.O

OMG. The clothing size thing! That's actually how me and my friend first got on the subject--I am seemingly incapable of buying trousers for myself in the correct size without help. Like, every single time I try, I buy too large. A major part of her thesis was revealing that this is actual how most women shop, that almost none of us have a "correct" knowledge of our own sizes. It's incredible!
