Has the Doctor ever been to or mentioned going to Camelot in canon? I can't remember, and I'm writing a Merlin/Doctor Who crackfest (it's all jinxed_wood 's fault, dontcha know?).

See the 7th Dr episode "Battlefield" -- I don't immediatly recal if 'Camelot' is part of it, but Avalon certainly is.

The Doctor is Merlin... at some point in the future anyway wiki for Battlefield. I always loved that episode.

He IS Merlin, but that has to be Eight or the Time War has rewritten it. Ancelyn (Lancelot) says he wore a different face as Merlin, and Seven can't remember it. At the same time Morgana, Mordred and Ancelyn clearly come from a parallel dimension where magic works (as the Doctor explains), which isn't possible anymore since the Time War... well OK it is but...
You should at least keep the added difficulties in mind ;P
