So when Cat slips out at night, a niggling buzz in Millie's mind wakens her. The part of her mind that she sets aside to keep track of the others is sensitive, like a loose, sore tooth, and when she examines it, she realizes Cat is no longer in his room--nor is he in the building, either. Millie clucks and climbs out of bed, her hair swinging in a braid over her shoulder, and pulls on her dressing gown. She's worried, but not frantic with it, so she's calm when she casts her mind out to search for him, and isn't surprised to find him in the stables.
She teleports there, taking care to arrive outside so as not to startle Syracuse, and creeps in through the creaking door. "Cat?" she whispers, then raises her voice, feeling silly--it's late, yes, but this is a ( ... )
