WHAT IS IDOLLAND?
idolland is a challenge community inspired by whedonland and jjverse . There are three teams: Alternative, Pop, and Rock. Once sorted onto a team you begin competing in different challenges - some art based, fic based, trivia based, luck based, etc.
DO I NEED TO KNOW ALL SEASONS OF IDOL TO JOIN?
Not at all! While it may be more fun for you to be into more than one season of American Idol, it is not at all necessary! In fact, you don't even have to know anything about your team's setting - The team names are just that - team names; they only dictate whom you play with.
I JOINED, NOW WHAT DO I DO?
After applying for a team and accepting the invite to your team's community take a moment to browse your team's community. Should there be an introduction post, introduce yourself to your team. If you're ready to join in on challenges right away, located in the sidebar you will always find the Open Challenges list to see what challenges are currently running.
While not required, it is a good idea to track idolland and/or your team community so you are able to be notified via e-mail when a new post goes up.
WHAT IS A SEASON?
A play on words and terms to stand for the current round. A "season" last for 3 months. Furthermore an Episode is a challenge. The team with the most points at the end of the Season wins!
HOW DO I ENTER A CHALLENGE?
To enter a challenge, unless otherwise directed (directions are always provided with each challenge) leave a comment with your entry at the Challenge Post. Often, comments are screened so you may not see any other entries.
WHAT ARE THE EXPECTATIONS OF ME?
You are encouraged to enter any and all challenges you can. At the bare minimum though, you should enter at least one challenge every three weeks. Should you be inactive for this period of time (you will receive a PM prior) you will be removed from your team's community. You are more than welcome to re-apply however once you have more free time on your hands.
WHAT ARE TAG BANNERS?
Once you're placed on a team you are encouraged to make a signature banner, or request someone on your team to make one for you. The maximum size is 275x150 and must include your team name as well as your name or username.
Tag banners may be used in every challenge unless otherwise stated as you receive an extra point every time you use it.
WHAT'S THIS "BINGO" THING?
Bingo is a challenge that takes place anywhere from weekly to bi-weekly and the times do alternate so make note when viewing the challenge post. You are to pick 10 names from a list and submit your "bingo card". At the designated time a "bingo hall" is created and the game begins. The interval in which names are called vary anywhere from 5 names every 10 minutes to 5 names every 30 minutes (could even be 10 names every 10 minutes :D)
You must be present to call your bingo to receive one of the placing points (explained at challenge post). However, should your 10 names have been called before the last update (5th bingo given out) you are still awarded points for "having a bingo" which is why you should make a bingo card even if you know you won't be present.
Additionally, you may find that the Bingo post is very active when it is going on - this is a very social community, and Bingo is the greatest evidence of this. If you're new, feel free to just jump in! Introduce yourself, let us know you're new - we love new blood :)
WHAT DO I DO IF I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT A PARTICULAR CHALLENGE?
At the first comment to every challenge, we always leave a Questions thread. Ask any questions there and we will get back to you within a day. We disable comments at the Challenge posts, so if your ask your question elsewhere in the thread, there is a very good chance we will not see it. If your question is time sensitive, please see the next topic...
HOW DO I GET IN TOUCH WITH YOU IF I HAVE A GENERAL QUESTION/PROBLEM/SUGGESTION/NEED YOUR HELP ASAP?
If you have a General Question or Problem, please leave a comment at the Page a Mod post. Your comment will be screened in case your comment is sensitive. I will get back to you as soon as I can.
AM I ALLOWED TO POST AT IDOLLAND? HOW ABOUT IN MY TEAM'S COMMUNITY?
The only person who may post at idolland is chosenfire28 (Krystal). However, anyone can post at your team's community - in fact, we welcome it! If you feel like a reminder should go up, or if you have fandom-related news, or if you want to share something, etc., go right ahead!
I AM NOT THE BEST WRITER / GRAPHICS PERSON. DOES THAT MATTER?
Not at all! While there is occasionally voting, participation is what's most important! It's the effort that counts most, so jump right in! You'll find most people here are just "winging it" :)
WHAT DO I DO IF I HAVE TO LEAVE THE COMPETITION OR GO ON HIATUS?
Should you have to leave the competition for any reason please head over to the Leave/Hiatus post and drop a line. If you leave you are free to rejoin at anytime, although you might have to wait to get back on your team if it is full. If can only go on hiatus for a month.
