Problem is that the legal system there isn't properly established. When you have amnesty and human rights watch saying it wasn't a fair trial, its a bit worrying. Probably would have been better to try and get him at an international tribunal based on what he did in Kuwait. Let him get a pretty long prison sentence for that and then the Iraqi legal system has all the time in the world to get itself together.
