Is it possible that you feel less investment now because you know it's possible the show won't even be around for a full season? I know I tend to be very reluctant now to get involved, because I don't want to love something that's just going to be snatched away to hiatusville three episodes in, never to return.

Hm. I don't think so. Take BSG- didn't have cable when it first came on, so when I came to it via the internet I was sitting up for HOURS late at night, watching episode after episode on my computer screen- felt completely invested. Or S1 of VM- I was so caught up, I talked about it all the time.

Maybe I get to that point faster now, as well as leaving it faster. But I also think there's no doubt that VM and BSG were at their best in their respective first year (or miniseries plus first season for BSG).

also, hi :)

I do agree about both VM and BSG being better earlier, and yeah, maybe it's a function of burning through something quickly? I'm still not sure how marathoning a season of a show effects my feelings about it, and the way I see it. Both House and BSG, which I came to that way, no longer hold my attention the way they did. Otoh, I have completely sold my soul to Supernatural, which I watched all of season 1 of in four days over the summer. Hmm...

:D Ah, non-hatred. It's a beautiful thing.

The rats and I used to play a game: we'll keep watching TV till rats are mentioned. It always comes sooner than you think- people are obsessed, I tell you.

Aww! They are great squeezers, rats.

I got no pet. I got a girlfriend instead :). I'm kind of holding out for a dog, but not ready. I would consider rats in the meantime, but the HDGF is resistant to their pooping habits.
