Feelin' Gippy

Yesterday after hanging out with cubby66 and mulberry_fields, I wandered up to Target, which is not what I want it to be. They have lots and lots of baby stuff and frozen foods, but a pitiful selection of cheap duvet covers and a complete dearth of cheap paint. It was full of people buying mass quantities of toilet paper and disposable diapers; it's a dirty world, but ( Read more... )

OMG. Everytime I visit Target I pass that kicking kebab stand and lust after the kebab smells but have not yet sampled its wares. I shall make it a point to right this wrong.

Yes, Target is dumber about houseware/hardware/tool matters than they should be. It never even dawned on me to look for paint there. Are you painting your palazzo?

I have no ability to concentrate at work today whatsoever.

Yes, hardware is another topic on which they are totally retarded. Although there are some fine, small stores in the neighborhood where you can get a range of hardware items (e.g. Dick's for electrical and basic nails and screws and curtain rods and stuff--v. cheap--and there's a small hardware store on Vermilyea just south of 207; they don't speak English too well but they're nice and they have hardware.)

Painting the palazzo-hee. I want to paint the IKEA china hutch thing, and I want to paint the paintable parts of the bathroom, starting with the medicine chest/cupboard thingy. V. v. yugly.

And if you can ever think of anything else you might want at Target, you must totally eat kebab.

OK off to therapy.

FYI - the LOTR allegory for graduate school is at LEAST a year old or more - this may be an issue for the original author...

What? Ithiliana would never ever plagiarize--maybe she reposted it? Or maybe it was a quote and I didn't catch that?

I long for Target, any Target. Every time I come into Port Authority I am mocked by the giant billboard for TARGET (.com), when I know full well there is no Target in Manhattan.

This mythical Bronx Target, how do mere Manhattanites reach it? The one in Queens is a schlep. If I could just ride the 1/9 train to Target, I would be a happy girl.

BTW, if you ride the 1/9 in the other direction, KMart on 34th has a decent paint section.

To amelia_eve: there is a Target in Jersey City, which is easily reachable by car (...I don't HAVE a car and hence have never been there even though I live in JC).

To idlerat: ah, but small rooms require very little paint, so are affordable even at Janovic Plaza prices if you only need a pint.

Yeah, it's that car thing. If I need to do the car thing, I get one of my Jersey friends to take me to one near them. (The one in Hackensack is gigantic.) But I have actually seen the Bronx one, and I think it is on the 1/9. I just don't know which stop.

Yeah, Kmart is good.

The Riverdale Target is *right on* the 1/9. 225th St. The train is elevated--you can't miss it. There's one in Blyn also.

I love me a good kebab.

The Democratic Party and its lameness are ruining my life.

Why don't I like Alias? Why, instead, am I now addicted to Law & Order: SVU?

Hi, Ratty.

Hi sweetie--RUOK? Wanna catch up on IM some time?

Law and Order of any kind gives me hives, though I can certainly see not liking Alias.

There are some fine Grilled Central Asian Meats available in SF. I remember a little hole-in-the-wall Kashmiri (I think) place that the cab drivers went to, where they had a wood fire that they accessed through holes in the counter to char stuff--yummy.
