I presume you recognize the "bert and ernie" thing (which was metaquoted from a friend who gakked it from me) as a "parody" (it's dead serious, so it's not really a parody) of the famous quotation from Pastor Martin Niemuller about his response to the Nazis, the one which begins "First, they came for the Jews, and I did not speak up because I was not a Jew..."
