Agggh Comic Con, plus are you a man or a Muppet?

Mar 03, 2012 16:59

So I managed to get through on the perfectly hideous San Diego Comic Con registration system and, cross fingers, I have got two 4-day packages! Ulp!

Sooo... does anybody know the best hotels to stay at for the convention? I need to book as soon as I get ticket confirmation from Comic Con.

Also, it's time to play the music, it's time to light the ( Read more... )

film: the muppets, comic con

Ooohh SDCC! If I knew anything about San Diego, I'd help, but alas. I don't know what to suggest other than maybe Yelp?

MUPPETSSSSSSSSSSS

I saw it a few months ago, and dang if it isn't the cutest, awesomest thing? One of my co-workers said she was disappointed because it didn't break any new ground like the original Muppet movie did with seeing Kermit ride the bicycle. To that, I say: I need new co-workers.

I adored the soundtrack, and for many days/weeks after, I'd randomly break out into: "BokbokbokBOK bokbokbok bokbokbokbokbok bokbokbok bokBOK bok bokbooooowk!" hehehe!

I had the same reaction to Jim Parsons! I had no clue he (or any of the other cameos) would be in it, and it was really kind of perfect.

I thought it was the perfect mix of nostalgia, pop culture, and pure undiluted joy. So, pretty much exactly what a Muppet movie should be. :D

ETA: Also, I think this may be the first time I've noticed and understood the title of your LiveJournal! I never got what it was a reference to, but NOW I DO. :DDDDDDDDDD

Grrr @ SDCC (but see my latest LJ entry for that!)

The Muppets was a very gentle comedy as far as I'm concerned. Yes, there was a hell of a lot of nostalgia. I actually wondered how young kids would get half the jokes! But they seemed to be laughing a lot in the cinema.

Every time I think about the film, I remember something else I liked about it. That's always a good sign, right?

And yay for my quote - it's from the Buffy Musical "Once more with feeling". :-)

I don't have any info about San Diego, sorry. :( Seems like hotels close-ish to the convention center would probably be a good bet? But I have no idea about specific ones.

But I just had to comment to say how INSANELY jealous I am for two reasons:

a) You're going to COMIC-CON
b) You saw the MUPPET MOVIE WHICH SOUNDS MORE AND MORE AWESOME THE MORE I HEAR ABOUT IT. It never did make it to Spain. :( :( :(

Oh god, this Comic Con thing gets more and more complicated - see my latest LJ entry.

But I can't believe they didn't have The Muppets in Spain! Although it's only just got to the UK - we were months behind. Cyprus always lags because of the subtitling. Maybe you'll get it in a few weeks?

Ooh SDCC, yay! You'll have so much fun! I'm not going this year, I went the last three and I needed a break! For hotels, at this stage you probably either want to:

1. Look at using the official SDCC hotel reservation service which has a specific date where you have to get online at a particular time and submit your top choices of hotels and then you hopefully get a reservation at one of them. They haven't announced a date for it yet but info is usually hereHotels near the convention center are pretty much exclusively block booked by this service, and if you do manage to get a room at one of them without using it then you'll be looking at $400+ a night. Even if you do get a room from them, the rooms are $250+ a night, usually ( ... )

Thank you SO much for all the help. I don't know if I will be using it because the bastards declined my credit card! I know they are doing registration differently to last year and it might be because I'm not a US resident. But really, they didn't THINK about that?

Such a crap system.

So I don't know if I'll be going. Or if the hotels will be booked up by now.

Oooooooh, San Diego! \o/ Hope you're tacking on a couple extra days to take in this amazing city?

Sorry, no hotel recs (personally, I'd stay in the Gaslamp Quarter, but proximity is probably everything for Comic Con), but I see you've been given/linked to some good advice already.

Ach, I would spend another couple of days if they hadn't declined my credit card, the bastards. So watch this space!
