James McAvoy back catalogue rewatch #12, White Teeth

Aug 10, 2011 16:45

So, while England burns around me, I've been doing some stuff and have even had time to catch up on my McFassy rewatch and see the TV adaptation of Zadie Smith's White Teeth.

In which James protests raw chicken... )

OMG, that horse thing might be the Mari Llywd, except without an actual horse skull. O.O

Yes, that's EXACTLY the Mari Lwyd! I suppose all British cultures have their own version of a hooden horse?

Isn't it utterly creepy?

The thing is, there were about 12 of them and they kept chasing me. Honestly, I found them terrifying.

I also joined PotterMore thanks to Magpie. I'm RuneStorm6. As for the sorting part (which I hope I find out soon), I can safely say that the only house I'd like to not be sorted into is Gryffindor. I just never saw myself there. As for Hufflepuff, I've got to give it respect because that's the house Tonks was in.

Aw, I never knew Tonks was in Hufflepuff? Or I did and forgot. But I didn't know right now!

Bless her.

Yeah, I don't know WHAT I want to be sorted into. I probably feel like a Ravenclaw, I don't know. More of a thinker than an action hero or a plotter!

I've always seen myself as a Slytherin. But with my avid book sense and general nerdiness, I also know I'm a pretty good fit for Ravenclaw too.

I've been sorted in Slytherin before in personality quizes, but I really don't know why! I'm not particularly sneaky. :-)

I wonder if they'll just randomly put people in houses anyway? It'll be interesting to see how the houses and wands are allocated. I mean, the usernames were randomly generated!

MASSIVE HUGS DEAR!

I've been worried bout you. Every day I read the news, and I think of you. I just got done checking the latest on CNN.Com and thought "I hope I/O is ok!" Just know that you are in my thoughts and... well if you can call my little chants to Gaea 'prayers'... but I hope for the best and have fingers and toes crossed that you make it through the trouble safely.

*HUGS AND PUPPIES*

Aw thanks! I've been very lucky and haven't been anywhere near the riots. I basically live in a village in the country and have been visiting my family at the seaside this weekend. The city where I work hasn't been hit by the violence yet, and I've avoided London and Birmingham where our other two offices are based. But I'm very scared for my friends in London and Birmingham and Manchester. It's a terrifying thing.

I'm sure it is. I remember when I was home from school back in 06 I think it was and heard there were riots in Toledo (Where many of my friends from college were). First thing I had to do was call my ex-boyfriend and find out if everyone was safe. He assured me they were fine and the riots were not as bad as the press made them out to be, but still, not knowing if they were safe or not was a very scary feeling.

The idea that somebody could come and smash my windows and burn my car... it's just horrible. I know that's unlikely to happen here but it could easily happen in Peterborough, the city where I work. I don't want my car burned!

Bloomin' rioters! It's not even as though they're protesting anything. It's just mindless violence and stealing.

I can't wait to be Sorted. I identify with Ravenclaws, but I've never felt a super-strong affinity for any of the Houses so I think whatever Pottermore tells me, I shall be. :)

My boy loved Super 8 too! Haven't seen it myself yet, though.

Yeah, I suspect it's pretty random anyway, like the allocation of usernames. What one did you get? I've heard a lot of fans are registering multiple times in case they get sorted into Hufflepuff. Which is a little unfair!

I think Super 8 is definitely a boy's film. But I certainly loved it! I would love to have been in their gang!

Well that's pretty ridiculous. LOL. Hufflepuffs rock!

My name's MarauderStar196. Huzzah, because I love the Marauders.

Hope you're all right with the riots. I happened to be in Paris for a few days during the 2005 riots that lasted several weeks and it was crazy, a friend of mine got his car burnt and the whole city was a mess. Terrifying. I have currently a friend who lives in London, and I'm really scared for her.

(OMG, this horse would have scared the hell out of me! Just creepy.)

Yeah, it reminds me of the Brixton riots in the 80s. But this is countrywide and at least they had a REASON in Brixton. It's just scary when it's anarchy for anarchy's sake.

And yeah, I ran away from the horse thing. It's like something out of The Martian Chronicals.
