Help me decide what to go and see on Broadway

Mar 06, 2011 20:45

So, I'm going to New York on 7 April and I can't decide what shows to go and see. I've already locked in NPH in Company for the Saturday Matinee but I'd also like to go and see a show on Thursday and Friday evenings. I've narrowed it down to:

1. How to succeed in business (with Daniel Radcliffe) - the show that almost made Dan miss his Harry Potter ( Read more... )

help me please, theatre

Hmmm, not sure I'm into Memphis. If there was something cool off-Broadway then I'd be into that.

But no actually How to Succeed is probably third at the moment behind Spiderman and Adams family if I'm honest!

But I have already seen Daniel live in Equus so that might be a reason.

Go see Spidey no matter what. Who knows how long it will run! And I vote for DanRad as well, it looks very intruiging.

And there's that Variety thing NPH went to last time… you know, where you walk in total darkness and end up "dying"? What was it called?

Oooo, what's the Variety thing? Honestly, I haven't heard of this? This sounds awesome!

And YAY! You recommended Spidey! I was a bit wary, but it's what I secretly want to see.

He talked about it on… a talk show. In January. Oh, no, he talked about it on Regis&Kelly! OH, I know, it was PlayDeadNYC.com!

I'd do evil thing to get to see Spidey. :/ Or NPH for that matter, but I'm very aware that neither is ever gonna happen. So at least one of us has to go and see it! Come one, it's Spidey. And U2.

I would say go see "Anything Goes" because the preview looks AMAZING, but it opens the day you are there, so maybe those tickets would be difficult to get? But check out the preview anyway, it is love!

And hey, why not go see Spiderman? I'm sure it will be a very original experience, while the other two are more classic and you'll get a chance to see another time.

I'm so jealous of you! I'm going to be stuck in a board meeting that whole weekend. :P

I just hope it stays open until like May when the semester is over, and I can hop on a train and see it.

I WILL BRAVE NYC BY MYSELF, IF I HAVE TO. I AM GOING.

Well, I'll tell you how I like Spidey and How to Succeed (which also has my favorite Mark, Christopher Hanke) once I've seen them in 3 weeks, but OMG, don't waste your money on Addams Family! It's just... not a good show.

Ooooooh, also: I've heard great things about Book of Mormon and think that might be something right up your alley...? :)

Hey, just thought I'd let you know that Nathan Lane is leaving Addams Family after this weekend; in April it'll be Roger Rees as Gomez. It's a fun show and I enjoyed it, but if I were you I'd go for How to Succeed (for what is most likely a very good show) or Spidey (just to say you witnessed the crazy mess that it is...).

Also, jealousy that you're going. :)

Thanks for the heads up about Nathan Lane! moerlin just said Addams family isn't very good? I haven't heard much about it. :-(

But yay Spidey!

It just depends on what you like, really. A few listens to the cast recording will tell you. I enjoyed myself thoroughly at Addams Family, and so did my mom and sister. But I prefer fun, funny shows over many other things. It's not going to win a Tony for best musical or anything, but um... neither is Spidey. ;) (Or if it does I'll die of ze shock.)

I'm with you Mezz! It's not exactly classic but it was hysterical. But I think most of that was because of Nathan Lane so if you can't see it with him, IO, maybe go for one of the others?
