Last night's facebook update (HIMYM)

Apr 06, 2009 13:49

So for the handful of people who are interested, and so Barney doesn't keep having to explain it to everyone, this is what happened last night.

It all started when Barney got back from Vegas... )

Oh my God. *hugs Barney and Robin*

Wow, this is what HIMYM would be like if it were a soap opera instead of a sitcom. :P

Hehe. VERY true.

But saying that, I actually do have some friends that genuinely act like Barney and Robin. These long, agnosied convos are not unusual.

But perhaps having a man who can take you to California 1st class at a moment's notice IS.

Oh, me too. I've got several people I know like that, actually. Doesn't make it any less depressing when it happens to Barney and Robin, though.

It was heartbreaking to be in the middle of it.

What I didn't post was the laptop trouble that Barney and Robin BOTH had throughout, meaning long periods of IM silence that made it even more super angsty.

Dude. So true. Not knowing whether Barney was being silent because he was off smashing up a glass vase (so THAT'S what was going on!) or because his, er, laptop was on the fritz... totally upped the angst.

It's because my laptop was undocked. It's docked tonight and it's fine. Typical.

But it really was like the universe was against them last night. You don't piss off the universe because the universe WILL slap you.

WHAAAAAAAAAAT.

I am never going to Carowinds -- I mean, Ted's mom's house -- again if it means that I miss this much FB drama. Especially if Barney and Robin were fighting over Ted! He really doesn't like adding to the already-huge amounts of drama between them.

And I know you probably don't like it when I say this, but... poor Barney. It just keeps getting worse for him! And I NEVER say this, but poor Robin too. At least she notices something's wrong, but she has no idea how to fix it. If only she knew...

(And I love how our roleplay is actually attempting to deal with their budding relationship, or at least the drama going with it, while the show's ignored it for the vast majority of this season. Is it weird for me to want to take our roleplay as canon now?)

If Ted was online it would have literally gone insane.

I literally wanted to physically hug both characters and was rather frustrated to realise they don't exist. And I did feel for Robin. She was so distraught!

As far as I'm concerned, it totally is.

I feel so bad that James missed most of this! I am never going to be working on a major blog gossip story again! (Actually, I was working in a liquor store :P)

James tries so hard to be there for Barney but he's in a tough point of his life right now. He's 37, married, and has a kid. He's kind of doing his own mid-life crisis thing right now because he realizes his life is completely different from what it used to be. He's almost ready to quit LA and go back to NYC because he misses his support system (family). But Tom doesn't want to move and he doesn't like Barney's influence on James.

>But Tom doesn't want to move and he doesn't like Barney's influence on James.

Wow, Barney picked that up, big time! Even though James tried to backtrack and deflect.

In fact, you can blame that on the entire angst of last night. It was really worrying Barney about Tom not liking him and if he should interfere with the Sam/School thing and him missing James like crazy! That's why he opened up to Robin in the first place (would probably have been Ted, but Ted was off visiting his Mom and Clint).

So what's Tom's problem with Barney? That Barney doesn't approve of the married lifestyle? That Barney might try and tempt James off int sleeping with other men?

All of the above, plus Barney likes to throw money at things and Tom doesn't have that kind of money and the fact Tom feels like his family doesn't approve of James. He feels a little embarrassed by James' family but doesn't say it to him.

James is upset because he loves everyone and hates confrontation. Plus he doesn't understand Tom's jealousy or the reasons why he's fighting him so much on Sam's schooling.

But there's a big tension going on in this Stinson household and it just blew up now that Sam isn't there (since he's out with Robin and Barney).

I'm going to be gone for most of the day. Hopefully I don't miss too much FB drama while I'm gone. (Maybe i can get facebook to work at work XD)

Wow - Barney's instincts are SPOT ON! He's obviously far more sensitive than I am as I thought he was over reacting! Barney can read people really well!

But yeah, James's message has now totally freaked Barney out. He goes to pieces when happily married people go through rocky times. It's a thing.

Gah! Hopefully Robin will be there to stroke Barney and calm him down.

I DO hope Tom and James sort it all out!

WOW, you are awesome for typing this up! I really want to talk more about what Robin's going through during all of this as well, but I have to be at work in like TEN minutes. Argh. I just want to stay home and play! :) There were so many times when I wanted Robin to just burst into tears, but she could never do that... at least she couldn't let anyone see it. I honestly don't know which of them I ache more for sometimes. :)

I said this on a different message, but I feel the need to post it again because people should know... hey everyone? RP with idioticonion. THIS GIRL IS THE BEST. You will up your game! :) I've seen some in character Barneys in fic before, but this...

Damn, why are we not writing for the show?! There's so much to explore!

Plus, you know, a drabble or two from Robin's POV? Too much to ask? ;-)
I am definitely going to try. You have inspired me with yours. Mondays are crazy; tomorrow will be better. My drabbles always turn into about 12 pages though. Ha. We'll see!

grateful to the scriptwriters of HIMYM for giving us such a massive gap to fill this season with
I know just what you mean. Even though of course I'd love to see them actually deal with the brotp on the show, the freedom it allows us as fanficcers is invaluable!

12 pages would be better. But anything you come up with will no doubt kick ass.

Although a hint of brOTP goes a long way, right? I'm going to get mileage out of Murtaugh for AGES now.
