(I keep trying to like things as I go through my LJ feed. Yikes.)

Facebook and Tumblr do create such a laziness. "Can't be bothered to comment, but if I like it they'll know I've seen it and appreciate it~"

on me right now:I'm here on LJ again probably by grace of pulling the reins in on my SuitDistracted blog. I get a bit obsessive, and so when ( Read more... )

I also find myself looking for a 'like' button on livejournal.

Its interesting how coming back to old movies or books can be a completely different experience because of where you are in life. And Princess Mononoke is just a really good movie. You're lucky your siblings will sit through it with you, my little sister tried to watch it this weekend and gave up before it ended, claiming that it was too weird.

My brothers and sister have the advantage of actually being kids in Japan, watching Ghibli movies instead of Disney, to an extent. But I was really glad they liked it, and what's more really got why *I* liked it!

Congrats on your internship! That must be super cool. (I imagine it's a lot like being an editorial intern, which entailed reading a lot of terrible things but was also great.) May I ask who you're interning with? And I am super curious about the ms! ...I know I will probably hear about it eventually. XD

I've only seen Princess Mononoke once. Possibly it is time to remedy that.

It is a lot like an editorial intern. I actually just found out a book that I felt torn about was *also* offered representation by the agent! I'm not supposed to tell, though I will say she works in YA and has sent me a couple of queries to give a second look at because of how burnt out she's got on the SF/F stuff, even though she loves good ones.... Which is super fun to do. Mainly I've said, "No...no, you were right. That sounds like a mess. It's not you; it's them."

What I really liked about this one book is how it really paints well what it's like to be someone living between cultures, though the heroine is more of a time-traveler. She reads like a proper Third Culture Kid, and some of the plot comes down to that. And the bits of time she goes to are so beautifully and clearly drawn out, it's really great. I can't wait to read it once it's all done with editing! XD

And yes--Princess Mononoke improves on rewatching, mainly because SO MUCH GOES ON and so little of it is really overtly said.
