初夢

The first dream of the year has a significance in  Japan (and probably other Asian countries). I can report my last dream this morning was a fun, adventurous one, not a nightmare, but some mash-up of Sungkyunkwan with some war  going on, all of which I only vaguely remember...

Typical.

Weird you say that; I had a dream that I had a tiny dog named Jemmy, and since that was the name of the last Tsarevitch's dog, I was hoping that it wouldn't be prophetic. Anyway, Jemmy was inside my coat like Apu, and he was behaving very well until he jumped out and told my family what he thought of them, a la Puss in Boots. Except I was the one wearing grand clodhopper boots. WTF, Jemmy, WTF.

You know, that sounds like a Jung-style psychological dream, with Jemmy maybe as a symbol. But it almost sounds like a shaking-the-dust-off-your feet sort of thing.

I'm not for having hard-and-fast-rules about what dreams are, though, even though it can be fun to think about.

Maybe! Jemmy was a bit of a sasspot. He was incredibly warm and snuggly though; usually I don't have such tactile qualities in my dreams.

Wah! Those are adorable. :)

明けましておめでとう!

I had heard about the mourning, though I didn't realize you weren't supposed to send them either...the only time I sent cards to a lot of people was the year I spent Christmas back in the States, just after leaving school, and I never heard of whether they arrived or not, but getting them was a lot of fun.

Since it's not something adults do only, I got a lot from classmates, which was really neat.
