Writing muse is still missing and am starting to think I should put out an APB on it.

My muse is missing too! Maybe they ran off together. LOL

You are a heathen, but then, I thought that when you clearly didn't recognize the genius that was Batman Begins.

Fuck, that's right, the boyfriend turns 30 today. I really should do something special for him. *g* Got any prompts or anything?

What made TDK good for me was Harvey Dent's storyline. He stole the show IMO. I liked the movie, but I think I'd agree that Iron Man was a better movie. I read this article in McLean's that I thought fairly criticized some of the problems with the movie: http://macleans.ca/article.jsp?content=20080717_132812_5480

See, I really liked Aaron as Harvey, but I think his storyline got a little shortchanged overall. I personally would have preferred a lesser villain in TDK with the Joker and then left the Two-Face storyline to unfold in the next one. They had a beautiful build-up and then blam! it was over. I was all WTF you mean that's it?

And wow, that's an interesting read. I found myself going "Exactly!" with a lot of the points the reviewer was making.

Yeah. The reviewer really hit the nail on the head regarding the action sequences. And I get what you're saying about Harvey. I was bummed by the ending because I also though "that's it???" But I liked the overall story for him. And I think Aaron played it really well. I loved his belief in Batman in the dinner scene early on. *hugs Harvey*

Also - forgot to say before that I LOVE Gary Oldman as Gordon. I think he might be my favorite thing about the casting for this new franchise. He's just so wonderful. And during TDK I kept thinking of how much I really want them to make "No Man's Land" into a movie so we can see him older and see former batgirl Barbara and the whole father/daughter relationship because I want to see Oldman get to do that storyline. *sigh*

Oh, don't get me wrong. I loved Harvey's story and Aaron did an amazing job. I just wish it had been build-up in TDK with the injury at the end and then focus on Two-Face in the next one. It was kinda the same thing with Spiderman 3 and the Venom storyline.

Ohhhhh...Gary as Gordon. I LOVED him in that role! I really like how he took it and made it his own and the realistic way he moved up from detective to commissioner. And, I have to admit, I was a bit peeved with the whole Gordon/son arc they pulled in TDK. I was all...but Barbara's right there!!

I'm glad to have given uber-ebul-speshuls. ;) Working on one right now, in fact, but it's mainly just uber-dirty, 'stead of ALL out ebul.

I wanna see TDK, and from what I've seen in clips and stuff, Heath's awesome. But thanks for the honesty; I'd love to see him get it, and yea, part of that is due to his death and wanting to *honor* that, but still. It's not the most realistic or 'earned'. We'll see if I see it.

Also, re: birthday lists; if you go to the LJ-main page, there SHOULD be a birthday reminder listing on the right. I don't know if it needs to be activated by the lj-user or if it's automatic, but I see who's bday's coming up in advance, so I iz prepared.

And YAY FOR SPAMMING! I've been waiting for someone to hop into hartnett_hounds with one, seeing as I DID a spam for my own journal already, and didn't wanna get mental. Purdy plz, share in thar? *bats lashes* :D

Awesome!

And yes, DO go see TDK. It's a good film. I just personally think it could have been better and that it's been extremely over-hyped. And don't get me wrong, I adored Heath. But I'll be the first to admit the boy turned in a lot of shit roles in his career. Yes, he's mesmerizing as the Joker, but (upon reflection) big parts of his performance are one-dimensional. (See the link I just added to the post, since it sums up part of what I feel about the film.) Overall, the performances are strong, the action is good, and it feels like a Batman film. It just could have been shorter, better edited, and I'd have preferred Two-Face in the next film.

On the birthday thing...unfortunately, the LJ listing only works if people on your flist actually list their bday in their user info. Otherwise it doesn't show up there.

I'm super evol because I have no real desire to see the Batman movie. I'm trying to stay way from grim and violent movies right now and well, it looks all dark and gothomy and lots of things blowing up so...well, I'm sure it's a good movie, but I think I'll pass for right now! :D

Yeah, if you're staying away from dark/grim/violent, definitely steer clear of this one. *g* It's good, but much with dark & grimness. Though...there's almost no blood in it, go figure.
