Juliet rocked back and forth on her feet, looking around at all the people in awe. She'd never been to a legit party like this one before. It looked so... So big and crowded and fun ( Read more... )

If there's one thing he knows how to do, it's talk to people in crowds. Old, young, male, female, both, neither: it doesn't matter to him. He might not have the diversion of his saxophone with him at this place, but it really doesn't matter. Smooth, charismatic, tall, dark, and handsome, possibly one of the only men here safe for a teenage girl to talk to, he moves over and grins at her order of water.

"I always drink water too at things like this." He always does when he's playing, because it wouldn't do to get completely trashed then get back on stage and try to play, but beyond that, he likes to retain a measure of control. Call it... oh, life experience talking.

He reaches forward, offers a hand to her in greeting. "Hi. I'm Gren."

"Oh, hi!" Juliet shakes his hand, smiling up at him. "Juliet Butler, pleased to meet you! Isn't this exciting? I'm sorry, I've just never been to a party like this before! Have you?"

She reaches over to grab her glass and sip some water. "I would like to get something stronger," she explains, "but my brother would kill me. And it's not good to have your defenses lowered in a crowded, unfamiliar, or potentially dangerous area, and this pretty much covers all three." She laughs a little, a cute sort of chuckle at herself.

The innocence is something he really likes. Craves, in all actuality; it's been a long time since he was in its presence. "I might have. I've been to a lot of parties." Never this particular one, but a person can go to the same place for the same party two or three or ten days in a row and it will be different every single time. That much is a given.

Juliet's assessment of crowds is a good one, although he's not sure how dangerous this one is. "It's good to know you, Juliet. And I'll make a deal with you. If your brother's not here to take care of you, that is... is he?"

He's not hitting on her, not at all. He can't help it if he's friendly, or if he's got a protective streak a mile and a half wide. It always gets him in trouble, and he never learns from it.

Juliet stares at him levelly, raising her eyebrows. "Before we go any further, lemme say one thing. I'm not a chick you wanna mess with. No, my brother isn't here, and neither are any other of my overprotective friends, but I know how to take care of myself."

She smiles suddenly, refreshingly. "That being said... what's the deal? Don't keep me in suspense!"
