Taphonomy

Author's note: Taphonomy, from the Greek taphos, literally meaning “study of the grave” is the study of decaying organisms over time and how they become fossilised.

Never let it be said that journaling is not educational... )

drabble, memories, stories, decay

Hey, whatever remains preserved is more than good enough for me. I love the fact that so many of our stories start with a single image and then turn themselves into something else magical.........

I guess AotB itself is a miraculous bit of fossilisation... and we are certainly making the most of the material that has been preserved, aren't we?

Well, I'm some sort of relic from the 70s already too so I guess that fits well

Beautiful... and ethereal, too. Gee, sometimes I wish I was born, like, earlier. To see things, to meet people... On second thought - every epoch can be great if we find something we love in it, be it the 70s or Arthur's time. :) Then, this sentence - "Every time I try, it looks different." - sounds remarkably like what I'm researching right about now, to clarify details for a fic, 'cause I read it way back, in school or the uni, I think. It's information about the grave of one of Arthur's sons (not Mordred, though). There's a belief that whenever people tried to measure this grave, the length was different each and every time: six feet, nine or more. Weird.

That sounds fascinating - I look forward to seeing the results of your research!

I'm all for living in the moment and finding something to love about it, yes. And if you're born later, you will reach further into the future and see a bit more of the story unfold...

Oh, I hope it turns out fine, if not in a "proper" story - there's always Halloween and horror plus humour stories that come with it, right?

Looking forward to the unfolding, then. And keeping on enjoying the moment while it's here. :)

You're right, there are all kinds of stories, and who are we to say what is the 'right' sort? All we can do is to hope that we're spared too much of the horror and get plenty of the humour instead!
