Watched Kamen Rider Kiva yesterday. I'm starting to miss the days when Kengo was funny and when scenes in 1986 were less filled with the Otoya × Maya drama. I feel so sorry for Yuri... I never thought that it'd happen but I like Yuri with Otoya moooore.
1986: Yuri battles a Rat Fangire and puts her frustration over Otoya and Maya's relationship on him. Otoya arrives to help with the IXA Knuckle when she knocked down but she refuses his help and pushes him aside. When the Rat Fangire escapes, Yuri tries to chase him down, but Otoya stops her, trying to calm her down. Yuri pushes him down again and steals the IXA Knuckle from him, continuing her pursuit as Otoya calls her name.
Yuri transforms into IXA but the side effects of 1986 IXA knocks her unconscious. Before the Rat Fangire can kill her, Maya stops him with her power. The Rat Fangire is upset that she wants to keep Yuri alive and stutters, "I won't forgive you, Queen!"
In Castle Doran, Maya attends to baby Taiga when the King comes back, blabbing about her interest in "that human" (Otoya). He asks her if she's fallen in love with him and Maya's like, "What about that?" In response, the King draws the Zanbat Sword and points it at her. Unexpectedly he throws it into the wall behind her saying that whoever draws the sword will kill her (or something like that, I forgot).
2008: At first Wataru is in disbelief when Mio confesses that she loves him. Meanwhile Taiga looks like he's about to cry as he listens in on the conversation.
At night, Wataru is on Cloud 9 as he makes his special pasta for Shizuka, Kivat, and Tatsulot. Turns out to be pretty delicious, but when Wataru reveals what he used, Kivat and Tatsulot are like, "EWWW WHAAAT" and Shizuka drops her fork. At this, Wataru is reminded of Taiga's desperation to know who Mio really loves.
Taiga angsts about Mio and Bishop already knows who she likes. Bishop advises him to just kill Wataru because he's King and everything. Taiga opts not to since Wataru is his friend. When he meets Wataru at the café, he gives him an invitation to his wedding with Mio. Even though Taiga knows Wataru likes Mio, he asks him to give up on her. However, Wataru can't go through with it, so Taiga punches him and leaves.
Mio receives a message from Wataru on the phone, wanting to meet her, but the Rat Fangires, who still have a grudge against the Queen from 1986, find her first. Luckily Wataru notices this on his way to meet Mio and transforms into Kiva to fight them back. Taiga appears to Mio instead as a result, angry that she is waiting for Wataru.
While Megumi is on her coffee break at the café, Nago bursts in with the IXA Knuckle. He's stolen it from Kengo and asks Akira for tape because... get this, he's going to tape thumbtacks on the handle so Kengo will get ouchies. (o_O) Unfortunately Kengo comes in, beats up Nago, and reclaims it. Nago gets thumbtacks on his face. (;~;)
Kiva is blasted back into Wataru but he continues to chase the Fangires. The Fangires come upon Taiga and Mio. Wataru yells dramatically that he loves Mio and wants to protect her. He gets beaten up pretty badly but Taiga doesn't care and won't let Mio help him. Once Wataru is knocked unconscious, the Rat Fangires gang up on Mio, but Taiga transforms into Saga. He leads Mio away while holding her wrist and fighting the Fangires.
Wataru is awakened by Jiro, who gives him another try at taking the Zanbat Sword out of Castle Doran. Wataru, with his resolve to protect Mio, manages to unearth the Zanbat Sword from the wall. His Fangire powers are fully awakened and he goes a little berserk as he attacks the rest of the Arms Monsters. At last he regains control of himself and goes off to fight the Rat Fangires. After fighting off some rats, Saga comes back and as expected, Saga and Kiva fight. With the Zanbat Sword Kiva gets the upper hand. However, Mio sees Kiva and remembers her duty to eliminate him. She runs in front of Saga and transforms into her Fangire form. In shock, Kiva lets his guard down and is blasted back into Wataru. And then cue a dramatic 10 second scene where everyone is going, "OMG NO WAY THE PERSON I WAS FIGHTING WAS REALLY YOU?!?!?"

Thoughts:
- Oh, man, my gut kind of wrenched when I saw that Taiga looked like he was about to cry.
- Two words: poor Yuri. Had that same heart-wrenching feeling when Otoya was calling after her.
- Maya is so badass.
- Bishop sure is simple. Just kill Wataru and you'll have nothing to worry about!
- Nago is reduced to the comedy relief again, but he's still an asshole. His plan was really un-Nago-like, though. Thumbtacks on the IXA Knuckle?
- Getting sick of Kengo's new asshattery.
- Getting bored of the triangle.
