*if one looks closely, he's muttering rhythmically to himself, staring into space while his eyes twitch to the same rhythm as his lips*

*looks over as the butterfly lands on his hand looking shocked* What?

Your father. A long time ago. It was by accident. He looked so beautiful... They used to punish serious criminals with a machine that simply killed them, without the option of regenerating. We didn't know what it was. *snaps his gaze back to Jax* Ignorance is no excuse.

*shakes his hand, sending the butterfly away then goes over to him, brow furrowed* But...he's here today. He's alive so he's...okay. You didn't really kill him.

Do you know how much life it takes to... to jump-start a Time Lord? *frowns* My first true, senseless murder was the life of a planet. Everything on it. But your father's alive now, isn't he?

[time_tot]

*furrows his brow more* I..oh. *is quiet for a while* I'd do it. For David. If I lost him...I'd be...I don't know I wouldn't be able to go on.
